I have 3 level 20 characters that I play pretty regularly. I have no intention of deleting either of these to experience a warrior or an elementalists.
As stated before, we are not asking for 25+ characters. Six or eight is fine.
I don't see how you can compare this game to other MMOs or RPGs in the sense that we should be "lucky" to have 4 char. slots.
Also, the storage system in this game is bitter sweet. It's good in the sense that any thing i put in my stash is accessable for any of my other RP characters, but at the same time it limits the amount of storage space and/or potential space.
You people suggest deleting characters like they're mutt puppies you just give away. It defeats the purpose of spending hours and gold building a character.

Ok ok. Heres the thing though. You take your 4 charachter slots... lets say ANet has to pay.. 2 dollars a charachter (thats just a example number) for storing that chrachter. You double that to 8 charachters. That is now 2 times as much as what they were paying before. This is supposed to be a free game, so clearly they cannot just double everyones alotted space just so that you can have one of every single class. As a business thats already going to progressively lose money (due to constant update requirements and no necesary monthly fee) and make them double what they are giving you. That doesnt make sense to them and shouldnt make sense to you. No matter how many people agree, you cant just think "I want more!". You have to ask "Can ANet give me more?" And thats a big no. If they keep giving more and more they wont be able to maintain what they are producing.. good luck upping the charachter slots to 6 or even 8, but i can guarantee you its not going to happen.

Not signed. Have to carefully choose the setup of my 3 rp characters was fun, and sets everyones accounts apart from one another.
Account sharing is a very good idea though, I'd just be afraid to see it abused by guilds who share accounts to unlock skills faster. Allow them to be linked, but at the cost of having only one online at a time?

straight up quit complaining 4 is enough until they release more professions then MAYBE 1 more would be needed but still i have 3 RP and 1 PvP, a pvp char isn't anything big to loose, just delete it as you please and make a new one

This is not a free game. I cannot fathom what makes people keep saying that.
I paid my money for this game, just like a lot of other games: Neverwinter Nights, MechCommander, etc.
I have no problem with many of the arguments here, but it's absurd for anyone to be saying that this is a free game.
Sure, they've decided they can deal with the maintenance by having expansions often enough, but that's their business model. They did not make a free game. There are lots of free games, this just isn't one of them.

I'll take that bet I think that given that people are willing to pay for slots, they have almost no way NOT to expand them on a $/slot basis. Money for slots is a fine deal, they don't need to work on content for the money, essentially it brings in more money from an existing game, which is always a good thing for the software developers. They know how much a slot costs them to operate, they can mark it up by whatever factor they want, sell expansion slots and bring in money for work on the next chapter...

Ok. Sounds great. Take my bet. But the point that I was trying to make before you obvioulsy missunderstood me was that they werent going to up it to 6-8, which, you know, is the topic of this thread. Your talking about PAYING for more slots.. which is a completely different idea. Paying for more slots is a completely logical idea. But, i would suggest to you, to be prepared to pay about 30 dollars for 4 more charachter slots. Why? Because the one good point you made is that they are a business that is out to make money... and your all just showing them that your desperate for more. ^_^
Also, just thought i would mention to JoDiamonds that Luna was trying to make that point that if you pay for 4 characther slots then you must not be paying for the game.. not that the game was free. But im glad to see her slightly twisted words were enough to confuse you.

Personally I think 4 slots are fine, there is not enough item storage room for 4 characters at the moment let alone 6 or 8...

Ah, if you are saying that they won't bump up slots for free, I would have to agree. They arrived at this number through a great deal of thought I would imagine. As to what the subject is here, it is slots, but since many of the posts explain that they would pay for the slots I don't think I was misunderstanding the thread.
I wouldn't expect them to provide more for free. I'd pay for slots - 30$ is a lot, I was thinking more 20$ for 4 additional slots, but it's a profit thing - if they set it to high they won't get the volume needed for a maximum profit, if they set it to low they won't benefit much from it as they'll saturate the extra slots market at low profits. We'll see though - the demand is there, it's feasable and will generate money, so my guess is that we'll see it, and probably not too far off.
For all we know it has already been coded and they just need the distribution system (pre-order style boxes? Special cards with a code printed on them? Internet sales? red tape slows all this stuff down...).

I'll sign this. The very first thing I thought after getting the game and trying to make one of every class was, "What!? They only give you four character slots?!"
We ought to have six at minimum, and eight ideally.

Agreed I want to pvp but I can't because I need to use three slots to unlock skills and one for mule(whole other problem). I would like to atleast have one more added but six or eight would be more fun.

I am more than happy to buy a second box to get four more characters. I have the money, I have the desire. What I don't have is the ability.
If I buy a second box, I'll have to create a second account. The characters won't be a part of my guild (unless I use two slots in the guild's limited membership roster), they won't be able to access the shared storage, etc. I don't want a second, separate account. I want four more character slots.
All you need to do is give me the ability to enter a second retail key into my account info page to unlock four more slots. Do that, and you'll have my $50 within a few minutes (assuming PlayNC.com can give me a second key that quickly).
I have the money, ArenaNet, and I so want to spend it. I just need that one feature, and you'll get double the money from me and people like me who play this game. Heck, maybe even more...

Maybe in the next expansion
If they increase the number from 4 to say 8 then when the next expansion comes out with more classes/races, then everyone's going to say "8 is not enough! We need at least 12 or 16 because they added so many more cool classes and besides I don't wanna delete my old characters!" lol So I stay wait till more classes come in the next expansion.

For what little it's worth, I wasn't responding to Luna.
There are many people all over this forum and others who talk about how GuildWars is "free" or "this free game" etc.

I don't believe we'll need those character slots. If the PvP truly evens out unlocking skills, runes, etc, then we should be able to cut down on the number of slots we use.

I do need these character slots! I have 4 chars now, and I would like to play a primary monk! I will not delete a character, which I played for more than 100 hours!
